Description
This Curvy Log Cabin quilt pattern arranges to form a modern petal design. Contrasting light and dark fabrics create the shapes, symbolizing life’s joys and sorrows. Light fabric represents the joys, and dark fabric represents the sorrows. The pieced strips or logs blend together in buckeye fashion to form the curvy log cabin petals. The light fabric is white on white delicate floral prints. The blue, turquoise and purple fabrics are all batik prints, adding to the depth and texture of the quilt. Hand quilting emphasizes the curves. The border, a piano key design finishes the quilt with dramatic elegance. The backing is light blue paisley print and bears the quilter’s signature in the corner.

About This Pattern:
The Log Cabin quilt pattern has a rich history that dates back to Abraham Lincoln’s presidential campaign. Women, who couldn’t vote at the time, used this pattern to show their support for Lincoln. During the days of the Underground Railroad, a Log Cabin quilt hanging in the window of a Northern home proudly signaled a safe house for escaping slaves. The Curvy Log Cabin uses thinner logs on the outside edges, allowing for fresh creative pattern options.
