Description
This traditional Log Cabin pattern features four majestic eagles in the center. The diamond shapes are made by using contrasting light and dark fabrics in half of the log cabin square. The color palette coordinates with the central panel. The colors include brown, olive green, dark teal, gray, cream, and sky blue. The eagles in the central panel are delicately quilted to highlight the shape of the birds of prey and the surrounding trees. The backing is a sponge-style print in a pale green. The quilt could be displayed on the bed with either side visible. The quilting is hand-stitched. This is an Amish-made quilt.
About This Pattern:
The Log Cabin quilt pattern dates back to when Abraham Lincoln was running for office. Women couldn’t vote, but they supported Lincoln by creating the log cabin quilt pattern. During the era of the Underground Railroad, a log cabin quilt hanging in the window of a Northern home indicated a safe house.
Measurements:
King (116″ W x 112″ L)
A regular king mattress is 76″ wide and 80″ long, therefore this quilt would have a 20″ drop on each side.
A California king mattress is 72″ wide and 84″ long, therefore this quilt would have a 22″ drop on each side.
All quilts are long enough to allow for a significant drop at the foot of the bed as well as a nice pillow tuck at the top. Pillow shams are not needed.
