This traditional pattern of the Mariner’s Postage stamp is beautifully done in blues and greys.
Description
This beautiful quilt features the pattern name Mariner’s Postage stamp in lovely colors of blue and grey.
Specific to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania this pattern is also known as Trip Around the World to the Mennonite Community. It is also known to our Amish Community as Sunshine and Shadows. It is made by sewing together thousands of tiny squares in rows of contrasting colors to form diamond shapes. In the center is the Mariner’s Compass, a shape that was inspired by the compasses on antiques maps. the compass points require a technique known as Foundation Paper Piecing which ensures that the long points lay flat.

King (114″ W x 116″ L)
A King mattress is 76″ wide and 80″ long, therefore this quilt would have a 19″ drop on each side.
All quilts are long enough to allow for a significant drop at the foot of the bed as well as a nice pillow tuck so there is no need for shams.
