Description
A traditional pattern of solid, gradient colors that creates the 3-dimensional illusion of movement through overlapping layers. The inner border consists of Piano Keys in matching colors. The use of solid colors in quilting has been a signature of the Amish and Old Order Mennonite communities of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania since the 1800’s.
The quilter has stitched her initials into the bottom border of this piece.

About This Pattern:
This pattern is known to most quilters as the Card Trick because the overlapping layers of gradient colors resemble the image of playing cards that are spread out. BUT, because the Amish and Mennonite communities do not gamble, they refer to this pattern instead as the Star Spin!
Made by Amish quilter, Emma
